How to buy a wetsuit - Part 1
Everyone always asks what wetsuit do I need for UK waters. The answer is - It depends.
First its where are you surfing. If you are surfing in the north of England the water is going to be colder than in the south of England. The next thing to consider is the time of year. Its going to be colder in the winter than the summer.
So where do you start. I’m going to use the south coast in November as my base. Air temp is approx 11 degreees as too is the water.
You are surfing at a time of the year where the ware is possibly the warmest. The summer has warmed the water and the cold teperatures have not come yet.
At this time of year the suit to have is a 3/2 mm fullsuit but making sure that the construction is blind stitched and ideally the sema welded with some sort of rubber. Some may be shocked at the suggestion of a 3/2 wetsuit but ias long as the fit is perfect. Fit is everything this sut will allow you to stay in the water for longer as not only will it keep you warm but you are no tiring yourself out with the weight of a thicker neoprene suit.
